     DAL MAXVILL was fired as the Cardinals GM.  WHITEY HERZOG,
LEE THOMAS, TED SIMMONS, TONY LARUSSA, and BOB COSTAS have been
named as possible successors (Mike Eisenbath, ST. LOUIS POST
DISPATCH, 9/22)....DON CONVINGTON was promoted to VP/Engineering
for Liberty Sports Communications.  NELSON FLANAGAN was named Dir
of Operations (MULTICHANNEL NEWS, 9/19 issue).....Converse Chair
GIB FORD announced the following:  DONALD CAMACHO, promoted to
Senior VP and CFO; RONALD RYAN, promoted to Senior VP/Operations;
JAMES LAWLOR, named VP/Treasurer (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/21).
