IT'S ALMOST OFFICIAL THE ORANGE BOWL WILL MOVE TO JRS
Published September 13, 1994
Orange Bowl Committee members were told by Deputy ACC Commissioner Tom Mickle, "an architect of the new college football Bowl Alliance," that the FedEx Orange Bowl Game will move from the Orange Bowl to Joe Robbie Stadium (JRS). The OBC's advisory council recommended the move to the full OBC last month or risk being replaced in the Tier I Bowl Alliance by the Outback Steakhouse Gator Bowl. The OBC will officially vote on moving the game October 11. Mickle said moving the game was "critical" in selecting the Orange Bowl. The Orange hosts the potential title game in '98; the Dial Fiesta Bowl hosts it in '96; and the USF&G Sugar Bowl hosts in '97 (Susan Miller Degnan, MIAMI HERALD, 9/13).
