EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

     It's official, ANDY MacPHAIL took the helm of the Cubs as
president and CEO. CNN's Fred Hickman on the Cubs hiring of
MacPhail: "There are reports indicating that some current members
of the Cubs organization could go, including GM Larry Himes, and
field manager Tom Trebelhorn" ("Sports Tonight," 9/9).....MARK
LaNEVE has been named director of advertising and market planning
for GM's Cadillac Motor Car Division.  He formerly was Cadillac's
dir. of merchandising (AD AGE, 9/12)....Former Kings GM NICK
BEVERLEY was named director of player personnel for the Maple
Leafs (L.A. TIMES, 9/11)....JONATHAN MILLER, VP of program
planning and development at NBC Sports has been promoted to
senior VP of sports programming at the network (INSIDE MEDIA, 9/7
issue).
