TIER I BOWLS DIAL UP 1-800-FIESTA FOR FIRST TITLE GAME
Published September 12, 1994
The lineup for the potential national title games in a new Tier I Boal Alliance is set for '96-98. The Dial Fiesta Bowl will have the first game on January 2, 1996; The USF&G Sugar Bowl picked '97 date leaving the FedEx Orange Bowl with '98. The Fiesta won the right to select the first potential title with its high bid. IBM announced it will end its sponsorship of the Fiesta after the '95 game. The bowl announced that the Dial Corp. was its "backup" and agreed to a six-year deal, "unless a new title sponsor is found" (Steve Richardson, DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/10).
