Mets' Jeff Wilpon Talks Payroll Heading Into '18 MLB Season

Mets COO Jeff Wilpon today "broke his public silence" by saying that he is "not concerned that the club will likely rank in the middle of the pack in payroll for this coming season." Wilpon: "Being top five in payroll (in past years), I don’t think that won us a World Series. We are not trying to be the top five in payroll." Wilpon said that the Mets "could still match" last year’s $155M figure or could come with $10M less (NYPOST.com, 1/23).
