Warriors To Open With Ring/Banner Ceremony, But No Pyrotechnics

The Warriors tonight will hold an on-court pregame ceremony, celebrating their '16-17 NBA title prior to their season opener against the Rockets. The Oracle Arena doors will open early at 5:30pm PT, with fans encouraged to be in their seats by 7:15 to see NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Warriors co-Owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber present the team with championship rings. The team also will raise its championship banner (Warriors). The Warriors “won’t use any pyrotechnics” tonight out of “respect for those affected by the Wine Country wildfires.” The team is “known for having one of the most complex pregame pyrotechnic displays in the NBA” (S.F. CHRONICLE, 10/17).

As part of its NBA Opening Night broadcast on TNT, Turner will release a feature on the making of the Warriors' championship rings. "The Making of the Ring" is produced by OBB Pictures, Mandalay Sports Media and Independent Entertainment Productions, and it includes sit-down interviews with Warriors F Draymond Green, F Kevin Durant and coach Steve Kerr, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the design of this year’s ring by Jason of Beverly Hills. Kfir Goldberg produced on behalf of OBB Pictures and Jonathan Vogler produced for MSM, while Matt Davis produced on behalf of IEP (Ian Thomas, Staff Writer).
