New Multiplatform Network Stadium Plans To Debut In July

Stadium – the multiplatform network merging assets of 120 Sports, Sinclair Broadcast Group’s American Sports Network and Silver Chalice’s Campus Insiders – said at its first-ever NewFront presentation today in Chicago that it will debut digitally in late July and on linear TV in August. The network, offering more than 3,000 live events and a regular battery of studio programming, will be available on over-the-air TV, online, on mobile and via Twitter. It is also seeking distribution through other avenues such as virtual MVPDs.

Programming on Stadium will include live games from the Mountain West Conference, Conference USA, West Coast Conference, Southern Conference and Patriot League, as well as existing studio programs such as 120 Sports’ “The Rally,” Campus Insiders’ daily show and a to-be-named daily NFL show. “We’re trying to build the next generation of sports media,” said Stadium President & CEO Jason Coyle, who will lead day-to-day operations for the network. “Stadium is smashing the limitations of the traditional distribution paradigm. … This is a special opportunity to break new ground.”

Stadium’s NewFront presentation included several key investors and content partners including Sinclair VP/Corporate Development Scott Shapiro, Twitter Partner Manager of Sports Partnerships Will Exline and Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson. In addition to Sinclair and Silver Chalice, other Stadium owners include prior 120 Sports partners MLBAM, the NHL, PGA Tour and Time Inc.
