IOC To Keep Annual Meeting In Lima Despite Floods Throughout Peru

The vote to award the '24 Games will stay in Lima, Peru, on Sept. 13 as scheduled, the IOC said today after an Exec Board meeting. The governing body had considered relocating or rescheduling its annual session in light of the devastating floods in the country. At the session, the IOC will choose between L.A. and Paris, with a possible deal to award both the '24 and '28 Games still in the cards. IOC President Thomas Bach called the decision to stay in Lima a “demonstration of solidarity with Peru and its people.” Bach: “On this occasion the Peruvian government has given us all necessary assurances that the IOC Session will be organised in a great way.”
