CBS Gets Lowest Overnight For Masters Final Round Since '04

CBS yesterday drew a 7.6 overnight rating for Sergio Garcia’s playoff win over Justin Rose at The Masters, marking the lowest figure for the event since a 7.3 in '04, when it aired on Easter Sunday. That '04 event saw Phil Mickelson capture his first major in a one-stroke win over Ernie Els. Affecting yesterday’s rating was a 9% drop in HUT levels (houses using TVs), which may have been influenced by nice weather on the East Coast. The 7.6 was down 11% from Danny Willett’s three-stroke win last year. Ft. Myers-Naples led all markets for Sunday’s telecast with a 13.8 local rating, followed by West Palm Beach with a 13.0 and Minneapolis-St. Paul with a 12.6. Starting at 6:00pm ET yesterday, the rating was at an 8.0 before climbing to a peak of 11.2 around 7:30pm during the sudden-death playoff.

Meanwhile, Golf Channel last night drew a 0.24 overnight for the premiere episode of its latest documentary, “Jack,” marking the highest-rated Golf Films project in three years. Episode 2 of “Jack” airs tonight at 9:00pm.
