NHL Sending Senators, Avalanche To Sweden For November Games

The NHL in ’17-18 will play regular-season games in Europe for the first time since ’11, announcing today that the Avalanche and Senators will play two games in Stockholm, Sweden, in November. Titled the NHL Global Series, the games are scheduled for Nov. 10-11 at the Ericsson Globe and will mark the league’s sixth trip and 21st and 22nd games in Europe. Germany-based SAP will serve as the presenting sponsor of the series. The games are part of the league’s renewed international efforts, which were kickstarted by last year’s World Cup of Hockey. Meanwhile, it is expected that the league will announce next week that it will be playing pre-season games in China before next season (Ian Thomas, Staff Writer). The Canucks and Kings are expected to be the teams that will "travel to China for two pre-season games" (ESPN.com, 3/24).
