NBC Sports Rebranding California RSNs Away From CSN Moniker

NBC Sports Group will rename its two California-based RSNs to NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California – stripping away the CSN moniker. There is no word on whether similar changes will occur with NBC’s other RSNs – Chicago, New England, Philadelphia, Northwest and Mid-Atlantic. But it seems likely that those CSN-branded networks will be renamed with the NBC brand, as well – though the official comment from NBC is that it is exploring other changes, “given the unique partnerships with team partners across the RSN markets.”

The rebranding in California will take place April 2, coinciding with the Giants’ Opening Day game against the D-backs. The two RSNs will have new logos and graphics and will begin to tease the change through on-air promos, graphics and social media starting March 27. “From a consumer and business standpoint, it’s ideal for fans to engage with one brand, regionally and nationally,” said NBC Sports Regional Networks and NBC Sports Group Platform & Content Strategy President David Preschlack.
