Warriors To Limit Brokers To Four Season Tickets Per Account In '17-18

The Warriors will limit brokers to four season tickets per account beginning with the '17-18 season, the latest in a series of moves by the team to gain additional control over its resale market. The limit, the same that applies to any other Warriors season-ticket purchaser, will open up about 2,000 seats per game at Oracle Arena to fans. With the shift, the Warriors will end the two-tiered ticket structure that implemented higher prices for brokers. “This is about trying to accommodate as many different people as possible,” said Warriors Senior VP/Business Development Brandon Schneider. Most of the seats the Warriors will recoup will be used to address their season-ticket waiting list, which now exceeds 37,000 names.

Despite a series of aggressive price increases in recent years, the team remains one of the hottest draws in sports. Roughly 6,000 Warriors tickets are resold for each home game at an average of 70% above face value. “This will likely hurt some resellers, but it’s good to see a team doing something that makes sense for their own particular, local situation,” said Eventellect co-founder Patrick Ryan, whose Houston-based ticket data firm has held a position in Warriors tickets for several years.
