ESPN, Golden Boy Reach Deal For Series Of Boxing Cards

ESPN and Golden Boy Promotions today announced a multiyear deal for a series of fights to be televised on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, starting with a March 23 card. In the first year of the deal, ESPN will air English- and Spanish-language coverage of 18 fight cards in the U.S. and several international markets (ESPN). The fights will air "either on Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays," with 24 more planned for '18 and an "option for a third year." Announcers are to be determined. Golden Boy will produce the series and "rely on sponsors," including Tecate, "rather than a license fee from ESPN" (ESPN.com, 1/19).
