NHL, BAM Tech Debuting Series Of Rebuilt Products As Season Begins

The NHL and digital partner BAM Tech have debuted a series of new products for the start of the ’16-17 hockey season, including revamps to NHL.com, individual club pages, the official NHL mobile application, expanded connected TV offerings and the debut of a new venue-based Arena app. Similar to MLBAM’s Ballpark app, Arena will feature elements such as mobile ticketing, in-seat food ordering, and location-based content. Twelve teams have been incorporated thus far into Arena with more to come during the season, as well as a future integration with Bypass through that company’s new relationship with MLBAM.

The flagship NHL app, meanwhile, relaunches with a variety of new features, particularly toward user customizations including the ability to have mobile alerts sent out with the sound of a favorite team’s goal horn. NHL.TV now contains additional connected TV support, including a new application for Apple TV’s tvOS platform, and will be joined sometime this season by free weekly out-of-market live games on Twitter as part of a larger deal between the social media platform and MLBAM. A redesigned GameCenter game tracking product will also be available on NHL.com, club sites and the mobile app.
