Pete Bevacqua Enthused By Fan Response In Minnesota For Ryder Cup

PGA of America CEO Pete Bevacqua said fan response to holding the Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn., has "been amazing." Bevacqua: "We had 42,000 people out here on Tuesday, we had 45,000 people on Wednesday and we had over 50,000 people [on Thursday]. It has just been so well received and the Ryder Cup has continued to grow in prestige and importance. To see the passion of the fans out here, obviously cheering on Team USA, cheering on Team Europe." He added, "We have the new red look for hopefully developing a bit of a home field advantage, but we couldn't be more pleased at this point" ("Ryder Cup," Golf Channel, 9/30).

Fanatics said that its online Ryder Cup merch sales are up 300% to date over the ’14 event. Hats are the top-selling product, followed by on-course polos (THE DAILY).
