Sherman Questions Sincerity Of NFL's Player Safety Efforts

Seahawks CB Richard Sherman in a new video from THE PLAYERS' TRIBUNE criticizes the league for its approach to player safety. Sherman: "Ratings sell, people want to buy tickets, people are going to come to games regardless. But does the league care when Cam Newton gets hit in the face five times and pretty much knocked out the game? ... They're a bottom-line business." Sherman adds, "We really don't have reason to trust the NFL." The league is "going to do what they have to do to make their money and to make as much money as they can for the owners, and our union is going to do what they can to protect the interests of the players. ... Sometimes, the public gets confused by the league-player relationships, thinking that it needs to be amicable to work, and it doesn't."

The video is the first installment of a new series on the site called, "Tuesdays with Richard on Thursdays." New videos will be posted throughout the '16 season (THEPLAYERSTRIBUNE.com, 9/29).
