MLB Adds Fans Of The Year Award To Esurance Program

MLB is expanding its Esurance MLB Awards program introduced last year to include a new award for MLB Fans of the Year. The league and its auto insurance sponsor will conduct voting on the new recognitions through Sept. 19 at MLB.com/awards, where voters can choose between four nominees for each club’s top fan. Voting will also be available through Twitter using designated hashtags.

A final fan winner for each of the 30 clubs will be named along with winners in 19 other categories, most of which were carried over from last year in areas such as best hitter, best pitcher, best social media personality, and best trending topic. Winners will be announced on Nov. 18 during a prime-time telecast on MLB Network. The Esurance Awards Program exists separately from the more traditional player and manager awards determined by the Baseball Writers Association of America.
