Copa America Helps FS1 Grow Viewership In First Half Of '16

Thanks largely to its coverage of the Copa America Centenario and UFC, FS1 saw a 5% viewership growth for the first half of the year, and Fox Sports execs are expecting similar audience increases in the second half of the year. “Obviously NBC’s about to have a big couple weeks in Rio, but once we get through that, we have the potential for a big October,” said Fox Sports Senior VP/Programming & Research Mike Mulvihill.

Mulvihill believes FS1’s college football slate will be stronger than last year since Fox has better picks in the game selection process. And with big-market MLB teams like the Cubs, Giants and Dodgers all in playoff contention, Mulvihill believes Fox’ MLB schedule could see big gains this fall. “Right now, we’re showing a little bit of growth but with the potential for our fourth quarter to be really strong,” Mulvihill said.
