Hornets' Arena Name In Question After Charter's Purchase Of TWC

The name of the Hornets’ home arena is in question after Charter Communications closed on its $55.1B purchase of Time Warner Cable this morning and announced plans to retire the TWC brand. Hornets Exec VP and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer Pete Guelli said no decisions have been made at this point and no talks have been scheduled to discuss the potential rebrand of Time Warner Cable Arena. “It could be (renamed) based on Charter’s branding strategy, but we have not spoken to them about it,” Guelli said. “I don’t think it was even a discussion they could have before the deal closed.”

TWC’s naming rights have been in effect since '08, and the terms have not been disclosed. The venue opened in '05 as Charlotte Bobcats Arena.
