MSG Files Opposition To S4K Lawsuit Over Ticket-Purchase Limits

MSG has filed in N.Y. Supreme Court its opposition to a recent bid by N.Y. ticket broker S4K Entertainment for a preliminary injunction against the Knicks and NHL Rangers parent company and new limits on the number of season tickets that can be purchased to each team. MSG argues in its new filings that the ticket limits are designed to increase the number of seats available for direct purchase by fans, that S4K are using a variety of deceptive means to evade those limits and that its season tickets remain revocable licenses.

MSG in the filing said New York state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has “expressly encouraged venue operators like MSG to enforce purchase limits so that the huge volume of tickets being acquired and hoarded by buyers like [S4K] would be available for fans to purchase directly from venues at face value.” MSG: “Surely the Attorney General was not advocating for a violation of New York law.”
