ESPN Earns Best Overnight For MLB Opening Night Since '10

ESPN last night drew a 2.1 overnight for the season premiere of “Sunday Night Baseball,” which featured a World Series rematch of the Royals and Mets. That figure is the net's best overnight for Opening Night since '10, when Yankees-Red Sox led off the season on ESPN2. Mets-Royals also drew a 26.4 local rating in K.C., marking the net’s best local market rating in any market for an Opening Day telecast on record (dating back to '01).

Two other games also aired yesterday as part of a new MLB Opening Day lineup. Cardinals-Pirates on ESPN began the day in the 1:00pm ET window with a 1.4 overnight. Blue Jays-Rays followed that game on ESPN2 with a 0.7 overnight.
