Yankees' Hal Steinbrenner Defers To Fox On YES-Comcast Dispute

Yankees Managing General Partner Hal Steinbrenner, attending MLB owners meetings in Dallas, today deferred to 21st Century Fox when asked if he was concerned about the ongoing distribution fight between YES Network and Comcast, the RSN’s majority owner and managing partner. The net went dark at midnight to about 900,000 Comcast homes in Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, representing key portions of the Yankees’ home market.

Steinbrenner said, “Fox are the ones running the show. They own 80% of (YES Network), and they’re dealing with all of that. I have not been involved.” When asking if he was concerned the carriage dispute could extend toward the beginning of the MLB season next year and disrupt the Yankees’ broadcast schedule, Steinbrenner said, “We’ll just have to see. There are many competent guys working on this right now. I’ve got a lot of things I’m working on this week – here.”
