Saturday Uniform Overview: Colorado Goes For Striped Look In Stands

Colorado football is wearing "black helmets, silver/gray jerseys and black pants" for its Pac-12 opener against Oregon at home on Saturday, with ESPN covering the game. School officials are "asking fans attending the game to dress for the occasion: gray or silver in odd-numbered sections, black in even-numbered sections" (DENVER POST, 10/1).

Maryland football will go with a "Black Ops" theme for its Big Ten opener at home against Michigan, wearing a black "hand-painted" version of their helmets. Fan are "encouraged by the athletic department to wear black, and the team's uniforms (which aren't new) will also be black" (Baltimore SUN, 9/30).

Off the gridiron, Arizona State men's hockey plays its first-ever NCAA game Saturday night against Arizona at Gila River Arena, simultaneously debuting new uniforms from adidas subsidiary CCM. The home uniforms are "white with the large, pitchfork logo at the center and gold 'ASU' print on the shoulders." The player names and numbers are "in 'Sun Devil Bold' font and have pitchfork watermarks throughout" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 10/2).
