'22 Beijing Games Presents NHL With Unique Growth Opportunity

The NHL and NHLPA are still undecided about future Olympic participation, but Friday’s vote by the IOC to award the ’22 Games to Beijing could present the league and its players a unique growth opportunity despite the large time difference between Beijing and North America. One potential sticking point will be covering the league's costs as it relates to insurance and player travel; a deal was struck just seven months prior to the start of the ’14 Sochi Games.
