NBA Kings Sign SPI Solar To Sponsorship Deal Tied To New Arena

The NBA Kings signed their first “legacy partner” sponsorship deal connected to their new arena project with Shanghai-based SPI Solar. The solar energy company, which has its U.S. HQ located in Roseville, Calif., signed a 10-year deal with the team. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal calls for the installation of sustainable solar panels on the new arena’s roof along with signage, in-arena promotion and video content. The company also will be the official energy partner for the team’s new $477M arena set to open for the '16-17 season.

Kings President Chris Granger in a statement said, “From solar panels and electric vehicle charging stations to advanced lighting controls and low-flow plumbing fixtures, the Kings are dedicated to utilizing innovative sustainability practices. SPI is a global company with local ties, and we’re proud to work with like-minded partners that understand the importance of environmental stewardship.”
