WNBPA Hires Attorney Evie Goldstein As New Dir Of Operations

The WNBPA has hired attorney Evie Goldstein as its new Dir of Operations. Goldstein will oversee all day-to-day operations involving the WNBPA and all aspects of CBA relations with the WNBA. Goldstein, who will be the second person to hold this position for the union, will report to NBPA/WNBPA Exec Dir Michele Roberts and the WNBPA Exec Committee. She replaces Pamela Wheeler, who left the union in December. Goldstein was selected after the WNBPA Exec Committee spent conducted 10 in-person interviews with candidates.

Goldstein said her first order of business will be to meet with as many players as possible. “They are looking for a way to strengthen the union, put it on a path for growth, create more opportunities for players and increase the communication and transparency between the union and its players,” she said.

Goldstein most recently was general counsel for the Entertainment Software Rating Board. Prior to that, Goldstein served for six years as MLBPA Associate General Counsel, Licensing & Sponsorships. At the MLBPA, she was involved in collective bargaining specializing in issues related to licensing, publicity and promotion rights for players. She also was involved in the creation of the inaugural World Baseball Classic.
