MLB Dedicating World Series Game 3 To Fight Against Cancer

Friday night’s World Series Game 3 will be devoted to fighting cancer, and MLB will again pause the game after the fifth inning to have a moment of silence both on the Fox broadcast and at AT&T Park for Stand Up To Cancer. MLB has worked with the organization since '08 and has staged several of these moments in prior years, contributing more than $40M to the group for cancer research (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer).

MLB Commissioner Bud Selig said of the league's partnership with SU2C, "Of all the things we've done, talking about my social institution theory, which I believe in deeply, this is the thing I'm most proud of in anything else we've done in baseball" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 10/24).
