MLB Giants' Baer Cites "Organizational Culture" For Recent Success

Giants President & CEO Larry Baer appeared on CNBC's "Squawk on the Street" Friday morning from AT&T Park and said the team has a "culture in the clubhouse where everybody really works hard and works together." In the front office, "we really spare nothing in terms of scouting players and figuring out how to find a way to win." Baer: "People in the front office work really hard, 330 consecutive sellouts. So you have to create an organizational culture."

Baer said when a team is in the World Series, "it's not that year" that it reaps a financial windfall, "because the revenue from television and from tickets gets split up with the players and everything." Baer: "But the next year it allows you to have a lift and with sponsorships and with ticket pricing, potentially, and with the number of tickets sold. So it gives you a halo effect going into the next year and beyond" ("Squawk on the Street," CNBC, 10/24).
