Series Sweeps Put Damper On TBS LDS Viewership Numbers

TBS is averaging 3.862 million viewers through seven MLB postseason telecasts, down from viewership last year. This year’s TBS telecasts have included two ALDS series sweeps and a Wild Card telecast. The three-game sweeps in both ALDS series put a damper on what was looking like possible year-over-year viewership increases for TBS. When looking at TBS' comparable ALDS-only telecasts last season compared to the same date in '14, the net was actually seeing a 12% increase in viewership.

Last season, TBS aired the majority of all NLDS and ALDS telecasts, and none of those series ended in a sweep. When looking at the two Wild Card games that TBS had last season, combined with four games from the Red Sox-Rays ALDS and four of the five games from the Tigers-A's ALDS (MLB Net had one game), the net averaged 4.083 million viewers. TBS during this year's ALDS did win primetime among all cable nets on three nights. The net also saw double-digit gains among all key demos.
