FedEx Shareholders Reject Proposal To Drop Ties With Redskins

FedEx shareholders today "rejected a proposal from the Oneida Indian tribe to 'drop or distance'" the company's ties to the Redskins, including naming rights to the team's stadium. The motion was "presented from the floor of the shipping company’s annual shareholder meeting." A vote count is to be included in an SEC filing. FedEx Senior VP/Marketing & Communications Patrick Fitzgerald in an e-mail wrote that the company is "closely following the 'difference of opinion' concerning the Redskins' name and directed questions about the name to the franchise owner" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 9/29).
