NBA Kings Set To Conduct Second In-Arena Test Of Google Glass

The NBA Kings tonight will conduct a second major test of the new Google Glass Internet-connected eyewear during their home game against the Pelicans. Following up on a similar test of the technology on Jan. 24, the images from the camera-enabled devices will again be shown on the Sleep Train Arena jumbotron and in the game broadcast. The team is again working with S.F.-based outfit CrowdOptic, and the two entities conducted a private demo of the technology this past weekend at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference.

"We're trying to get anywhere a fan can't necessarily go and give those unique vantage points. This technology, as well as the kind of things we're also starting to look at with drones, is all part of that goal," said Kings President Chris Granger. The Kings were the first pro sports team to conduct a large-scale test with Google Glass.
