Dodgers Have Billboard Announcing Launch Of RSN Taken Down

A billboard announcing the launch of the Dodgers' new SportsNet L.A. RSN on Feb. 25 "has been covered up after the team realized it was put up prematurely." The billboard along the 405 Freeway in Culver City, Calif., featuring RF Yasiel Puig, was "in place for just a few hours" yesterday. Dodgers Exec VP & CMO Lon Rosen said, “We’re pleased about the excitement it generated, but we have asked the Clear Channel billboard operators to take it down until we are ready to start the campaign. This isn’t a campaign where we were trying to leak the information out and stir up interest” (INSIDESOCAL.com, 1/9).

Meanwhile, ESPN today announced that it will televise the Opening Day Padres-Dodgers game on March 30. This means that after playing the true '14 season opener in Australia, the Dodgers "will start the North American portion of the schedule, too" (AP, 1/9).
