Univ. Of Richmond To Debut Newly Renovated Basketball Venue

The Univ. of Richmond debuts the newly renovated Robins Center with Friday night's men's basketball game against Delaware. Following $17M in offseason upgrades, the venue will seat 6,721 "until the terrace level is completed in January," and capacity will increase to 7,201. The arena opened in '72 and previously sat 9,071. School officials are seeking a "more intimate environment, with fans closer to the court." Robins Center is now "much brighter with new lighting," sound "seems amplified," and the building has video boards for the first time (RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH, 11/8).
