Documents: College Officials Involved In Athlete Likeness Efforts

Documents unsealed today in the Ed O'Bannon v. NCAA case show that college sports officials "were actively trying to make sure that video games featuring college athletes were depicting the athletes realistically." The documents, originally filed under seal in April, are part of the plaintiffs' effort to show that CLC, EA and the NCAA "violated antitrust law by conspiring to fix at zero the amount of compensation athletes can receive for the use of their names, images and likenesses in products or media while they are in school and by requiring athletes to sign forms under which they relinquish" all such rights (USATODAY.com, 6/20).
