WBC Sets New Attendance Mark For First-Round Games

The World Baseball Classic drew a record 463,017 fans through the first round of play, surpassing the previous mark of 453,374 set in ’09. This total does not include the second-round games that have taken place in the Tokyo Dome. Combined first-round attendance for WBC games at Chase Field and Salt River Fields at Talking Stick was 115,183, surpassing the mark in Arizona for the first round in ‘06 (91,205). The Mexico-U.S. game at Chase Field on Friday drew 44,256 fans, marking a WBC first round record (MLB).
