America's Cup organizers today announced the cancellation of the planned America's Cup World Series race in N.Y. this spring. The decision was made so that organizers can focus on this summer's events in S.F. America's Cup Event Authority CEO Stephen Barclay said the organization could not afford to stage regattas in venues like N.Y. where they could not cover the costs of the event. Instead, it will concentrate on the Louis Vuitton Cup, which begins July 4, and the America's Cup finals, which begin Sept. 7.
