Sources: SMG's Hank Abate Leaving After 20 Years With Firm

Hank Abate is leaving SMG after spending 20 years with the facility management firm, according to industry sources. His last day on the job is tomorrow, said one source who saw an e-mail from Abate disclosing his departure. Abate most recently served as VP/Arenas, overseeing the operation of 70 venues worldwide. Abate started working for SMG in '92 as GM of Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh. In '00, he was promoted to Regional VP for SMG’s northeast region. Abate was not available for comment, nor was SMG President & CEO Wes Westley, who was traveling. A message left with company officials in Conshohocken, Pa., was not immediately returned for comment.
