Washington, Colorado Laws Will Not Alter NFL, NBA Drug Policies

NFL and NBA spokespersons today said that marijuana "remains illegal" under the leagues' substance abuse policies despite Colorado and Washington state voters decriminalizing it. NFL Senior VP/PR Greg Aiello said, "The NFL's policy is collectively bargained and will continue to apply in the same manner it has for decades." NBA Senior VP/Marketing Communications Mike Bass said, "Marijuana is a prohibited substance under our collectively bargained anti-drug program" (USATODAY.com, 11/7).
