Political Ad Spending On Sports TV To Peak This Weekend

SBJ/SBD wraps up its three-week series of analysis of more than $16M in political ad spending across sports programming, dating back to the London Games. This coming weekend will mark the biggest spend of the fall. Spending on NBC's "SNF" alone ($800,000) is up 60% over last week. For all NFL programming this weekend, the presidential candidates will spend $1.65M. The most expensive spot during NFL programming was $54,000 for a 60-second spot during KMSP-Fox’ telecast of the Seahawks-Vikings game.

Meanwhile, during the four college football games across Fox and CBS this weekend, the spend totaled more than $317,000. Ohio State Univ. and the Univ. of Florida are each playing on ESPN this weekend, so affiliate spending in their respective swing states was lower than past weekends.
