Eli Manning Set For "SNL" Appearance Four Years In The Making

Giants QB Eli Manning has been reaping the rewards of winning his second Super Bowl three months ago, and NFL fans will likely see a different side of the Super Bowl MVP this weekend. Manning will host NBC’s “SNL” Saturday night. Pop star Rihanna will be the musical guest. Manning said, “The good thing about 'Saturday Night Live' is you can kind of come in and maybe express a different side that people don’t see and maybe that’s not you at all times, but for this night you can kind of let loose.”

Manning’s appearance on the show has been four years in the making. He passed on the invitation to host “SNL” following the Giants’ win in Super Bowl XXII in '08. His brother, Peyton, had just delivered an impressive performance the year before, and he was afraid he would not be able to follow up. Eli Manning also felt like he had not proven himself enough yet as an NFL player. He sent a message back to “SNL” producers at that time, saying, “I do want to do the show at one point, I just maybe want to do it maybe after my next championship.”
