Inaugural Bluegrass Sports Awards Honor Kentucky Heavy-Hitters

The inaugural Bluegrass Sports Awards will be held tonight at the Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa in Lexington, Ky. NBC’s Tom Hammond will receive the Lifetime Achievement award for success in sports broadcasting and his commitment to the community. Jerry Carroll will receive the Jim Host Sports Business award for the Kentuckian who has achieved a high level of success in the sports industry and made a positive impact on the state. Carroll became a major force in the Northern Kentucky real estate and sports scene with the acquisition and renovation of Turfway Park and the development of Kentucky Speedway. Former Kentucky Gov. Martha Layne Collins will be the first recipient of the Jim Host Youth Sports Award for her work in creating the Bluegrass State Games.
