StubHub: Final Price For Super Bowl Tickets Down 15% From '11

StubHub today said its final median price for Super Bowl XLVI tickets was $2,500, down 15% from a median mark of $2,942 per ticket at last year's Super Bowl in Dallas. Transaction prices on StubHub, as well as on other secondary ticket marketplaces, plummeted sharply over the final 36 hours before the game, particularly as the high costs of lodging and transportation to and within Indianapolis and the lack of available direct flights and downtown hotel rooms, became more pronounced. "Absolutely it was a huge factor," said FanSnap VP/Event Ticketing Mike Janes.

StubHub said the cheapest Super Bowl ticket sold on its site was a below-face value seat at $750. Despite the sharply reduced seating capacity of Lucas Oil Stadium compared to last year's Super Bowl venue, Cowboys Stadium, StubHub said it saw more tickets to the event sell on its site this year.
