NFL Network Expands Thursday Night Schedule To 13 Games

The NFL on Friday announced that NFL Network will televise five additional regular-season games in '12 as part of its "Thursday Night Football" package. The "TNF" schedule expands to 13 games. In previous years, the net's slate of games included at least one Saturday night contest. NBC will air the Thursday night game on Thanksgiving day and the season-opening NFL Kickoff game. The expanded schedule means that all 32 NFL teams will now play at least one primetime game in '12. Every club also will play on one Thursday following a Sunday game (NFL).
Roger Goodell said, "We think that's great for the teams because everyone will get that primetime exposure and we think it's great for the network." Goodell said the league "will continue to work with" remaining cable operators on a carriage deal. Goodell: "We'll continue to try to get an agreement, but the market has spoken. The NFL Network is here and it's going to continue to grow" (NFL Network, 2/3).
