Frank McCourt Does Not Rule Out Future Dodgers-Fox Relationship

Outgoing Dodgers Owner Frank McCourt today did not rule out the club maintaining a long-term business relationship with Fox, despite competing lawsuits and mounting legal enmity between the two entities. McCourt declined to comment specifically on the lawsuits, which involve the Dodgers claiming FSN is interfering with the club's reorganization, and FSN alleging McCourt is abusing the U.S. bankruptcy code for personal gain. In fact, McCourt acknowledged he is not fully current on all the myriad legal filings in the case. But McCourt said it was only several months ago when he tried repeatedly to get MLB to approve a long-term cable TV rights extension with FSN. "They're a great company. I tried very hard to do a deal with Fox," McCourt said.

McCourt in Milwaukee reiterated comments he made earlier this week in L.A., saying he is "very much at peace," with the decision made earlier this month to sell the Dodgers, and that the settlement with MLB was driven significantly by "personal reasons." He declined to outline a desired sales price for the club and its related assets, but said the franchise and baseball at large are both "in fabulous shape."

He said, "I just got done with this owners' meeting where we went over the entire business (of MLB), and all the fundamentals are there. So the goal now is to find the right owner to take this team into the future."
