Motorola using ING N.Y. Marathon to market its Motoactv product
Less than three weeks before the start of the ING N.Y. Marathon, the race's parent N.Y. Road Runners has reeled in a final sponsor. Motorola Mobility is in as the official entertainment partner for the Nov. 6 Marathon and the '12 Half Marathon, scheduled for March 18. Motorola is looking to marry its new Motoactv product, which combines a fitness and performance tracking devices with an MP3 player. "Having your property used as a launch vehicle is always satisfying," said NYRR Exec VP/Business Development & Strategy Ann Wells Crandall
. “We also love that it helps spread our message that running isn’t just for marathoners, as we try to reach a wider audience.”
Through the sponsorship, Motorola will sponsor the entertainment stage in addition to receiving ad units on the five-hour local telecast of the N.Y. Marathon and course signage. The Motoactv will be sold at the Runners Expo.
