Red Sox Gauge Fan Reaction Before Moving Game Start Time

The Red Sox this week reached out to fans via social media to gauge their reactions to the idea of moving the start time of Saturday's home game against the A's from 7:10pm ET to 1:10pm to accommodate Game Two of the Bruins-Canucks Stanley Cup Final series in Vancouver. The team yesterday opted to go ahead with the move, as the "responses were overwhelmingly in favor of the game time change," according to team Senior VP/Public Affairs & Marketing Susan Goodenow. The Red Sox on both their Twitter feed and Facebook page posted requests for fan comments on the move. The Facebook post received 4,281 "likes" and 3,453 comments. Goodenow via e-mail said it is "hard to give an exact number on the tweets," as many fans did not use the hashtag the team provided to gather responses.

Goodenow added this decision "was not taken lightly." Goodenow: "We wanted to hear from our fans and used social media to ask for their opinions prior to making this decision."
