Source: Cal Will Reinstate Five Sports That Faced Elimination

A source said that the five sports programs previously designated for elimination at the Univ. of Cal-Berkeley "will be reinstated." The programs in question are baseball, rugby, women's lacrosse and men's and women's gymnastics (CSNBAYAREA.com, 2/10). The school postponed its press conference, expected to take place at 11:00am PT today, announcing the fate of the five sports. There was "no immediate word on whether the announcement will come later" today (MERCURYNEWS.com, 2/10).
