NBA Has 13 Games On Tap For Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The NBA has 13 games scheduled for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, with four being televised nationally. Several Warriors players during their home game against the Nets will wear a "special black and gold shoe designed by Nike," complete with a "red, black and green logo that celebrates the coming of Black History Month." Also, Warriors G Monta Ellis appears in an And1 promo video for the holiday with the tagline, "Walk in his shoes. Ball in mine" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 1/17).

Meanwhile, Baseball HOFer Willie Mays joined Basketball HOFers Lenny Wilkens and Willis Reed as recipients of the sixth annual National Civil Rights Sports Legacy Award. The awards were presented prior to the Bulls-Grizzlies game at FedExForum (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 1/17).
