MARLINS TODAY UNVEIL FOUR SEASON-TICKET PROGRAMS FOR ‘04

TheMarlins today unveiled four season-ticket programs for ’04 with season-ticketprices remaining unchanged from this season. The Marlins are offering a full-season plan, 41-game plan, two 20-gameplans or two flexible plans, which consist of vouchers for a full season orhalf season.  Every season-ticket optionis less expensive than purchasing single-game tickets.  Savings range from $162 for a full-seasonplan in the Fish Tank to $567 in Terrace Box to $2,430 in the Founders Fieldsection (Marlins).


BILLS TODAY ENTER INTO SPONSORSHIP DEAL WITH KALEIDA HEALTH

TheBills today announced a multiyear sponsorship agreement with Kaleida Health,under which Kaleida receives category exclusivity and signage throughout RalphWilson Stadium, rights to use the team’s marks and logos, in-game commercialrecognition on the Bills radio network and a presence at the club’s trainingcamp in Rochester.  Kaleida becomes theteam’s official healthcare system (Bills).


LeBRON AND CARMELO TO SQUARE OFF FOR SECOND TIME TONIGHT

LeBronJames and CarmeloAnthony tonight square off for the second time as the Nuggets host theCavaliers at 7:00pm MT at Pepsi Arena. NBA TV will televise the game nationally, while FSN Rocky Mountain willtelevise it locally.  The ROCKY MOUNTAINNEWS reports that there will be “less than half” the 300 media credentialsissued for the duo’s first matchup November 5 in Cleveland.  While last season’s Cavs-Nuggets game atPepsi Center attracted 14,214, “tonight’s encounter will attract about 5,000more” (ROCKYMOUNTAIN NEWS, 12/2).

TheDENVER POST notes that there are “no celebrities flying in, and the Nuggetsreceived about 50 more media requests than normal, not 250 more” like theCavaliers received for the first meeting (DENVERPOST, 12/2).


“CELEBRITY POKER SHOWDOWN” TO DEBUT TONIGHT ON BRAVO

Bravowill debut “Celebrity Poker Showdown” tonight at 9:00pm ET, a weekly seriesthat will feature five celebrities playing No Limit Texas Hold’em poker for thecharity of their choice.  Hosted byactor Kevin Pollak and poker player Phil Gordon, tonight’s showfeatures competitors Ben Affleck, Don Cheadle, Willie Garson,Emily Procter and David Schwimmer (Bravo).

BravoSenior VP/Programming Francis Berwick: “We wanted to do this because weknew that there’s a huge number of celebrities playing poker, there are anumber of celebrity poker games that happen on a regular basis” (N.Y. POST, 12/2).

InSt. Petersburg, John Cotey wrote, “Poker on television is too young a beast todie such a quick death, but celebrity poker has the potential for a Jump theShark moment. … If poker can survive Celebrity Poker Showdown, … then it likelywon’t be folding soon” (ST.PETERSBURG TIMES, 11/28).

MEDIAWEEKnotes that with “consumer interest in gambling on the rise due in large part tothe proliferation of casinos across the U.S., advertisers are starting to takeinterest” (MEDIAWEEK,12/1 issue).


ESPN TO PREMIERE “THE SEASON: RODMAN ON THE REBOUND” TONIGHT

ESPNwill premiere “The Season: Rodman on the Rebound” tonight at midnight ET, thefirst of a two-part series chronicling Dennis Rodman’s attempted NBAcomeback.  The second part will airtomorrow night at midnight ET (ESPN).

InN.Y., Richard Sandomir calls the program “a chronicle of self-delusion.”  Sandomir continues, “It relies too much onRodman’s life and voice to inject vibrancy, but his circumstances are hardlypulsing” (N.Y.TIMES, 12/2).


BUZZER BEATERS

ESPN’s“College GameDay” telecast from Ann Arbor, Michigan, prior to the November 22Ohio State-Michigan football game at Michigan Stadium averaged a 1.92 Nielsencable rating (1,693,389 HHs), making it the most-viewed “College GameDay”telecast ever (ESPN).

TheL.A. TIMES reports that Manchester United CEO David Gill “harshlycriticized” comments by FIFA President Sepp Blatter suggesting thatManchester United D Rio Ferdinand “should have been suspended once hefailed to show up for a drug test.” Gill: “We are at liberty to keep playing Rio Ferdinand and that is whatwe are doing.  Frankly, this is anincomprehensible statement by Sepp Blatter” (L.A.TIMES, 12/2).


A LIGHTER BUZZ

TheEDMONTON SUN reports that Heritage Classic organizers are upset with CBC newsparody show “This Hour Has 22 Minutes,” after learning that cast member ShaunMajumder posed alongside former Oilers and Canadiens for a photo, “wearinga jersey bearing the show’s title.” Oilers PR Dir Bill Tuele: “I personally think it’s idiotic.”  Event Chair Doug Goss: “There’s timesfor laughs and stuff, but there’s also time for some serious stuff.”  During the segment, Majumder also “lamentedabout how difficult it was to see the puck, and presented a giant fake puck toNHL Commissioner Gary Bettman in an attempt to convince him to have theplayers use it instead” (EDMONTONSUN, 12/2).
