PYNE TALKS NASCAR’S DRIVING FORCES AT MOTORSPORTS FORUM

NASCAR Senior VP George Pyne opened Street & Smith’s Sports Group’s two-day Motorsports Marketing Forum today in Charlotte, NC, and discussed the “tremendous passion” for NASCAR that drives his product.  Pyne: “What are the keys, what drives NASCAR?  Great product on the track.  Entertainers that are straight-up, genuine, and that you admire.  And a sense of belonging that is unique to NASCAR.  What else drives NASCAR?  Our size.  I never would have thought this seven years ago when I started at NASCAR, but we are now the second sport on television.”  More Pyne: “The great news for NASCAR is there’s tremendous growth potential where the people are, in markets like (N.Y.), Chicago and (L.A.).  We’re going to explore the international marketplace.  We’re going to bring both greater focus to all of our divisions and we’re never going to forget why we’re here because at the end of the day, NASCAR is all about racing” (THE DAILY).

THE DAILY presents our second annual special issue in conjunction with the Motorsports Marketing Forum.  The 22-page report features original reporting on the motorsports marketing strategies of Ford Motor Company, Sprint and Red Bull; an inside look at CART’s new business model, a complete Nielsen TV ratings trend for the Winston Cup and Busch Series, as well as consumer habits and leisure activities of motorsports fans.  This comprehensive issue is available to order and download today.  Go to www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/motorsports to learn more.
